When I first began a "Bible Study" with the JWs, my father did warn me that, to quote, "Religion is like whisky and beer - you can do without it."
Unfortunately, I discovered the hard way that he was right!

my personal perception of my own would be that religion is an organized agreement.
to a set of lies, cultivated upon human ignorance, fear and superstitions, structured.
on a framework of power and control.

i cannot get over the amount of arguements we get into about blood with my wife.
she is medically trained,.. but her thinking is now retarded by the watchtower mentality.
one thing recently i refused to do lately was print a magazine article for her which was about blood complications this was an article from the new scientist magazine.
Anony Mous,
My experiences have been similar.
Whatever the pseudo-science the GB / FDS / WTS or (whatever it is they preferred to be called) may quote about blood therapy, no doctor that I have ever dealt with has had any doubts about it.
When my children were still young, and I was still "in", the matter of blood alternatives was raised on several different occassions. Each time, the answer was pretty much the same:
i.e. The so-called "hazards" of blood therapy much exaggerated, and the effectiveness of blood alteratives very much exaggerated. As one doctor expressed it "You people scare me!"

when i was still a jw i remember my feelings of confusion caused by the co visit.
i just found them so discourging.
i knew what he was going to say.
It depended very much on the Circuit Overseers as individuals, as to the amount of encouragement they imparted.
Speaking in general terms, though, the ones that tried to kick a$$^$ backsides were the ones that ultimately achieved the opposite of what they intended to accomplish:
- i.e. for a few months the congregation's all-important average hours soared - then after that, crashed in a heap!

this is a very good find from another jw only web site i have access to... hey i just found this on a link of my mom's that she is "friends" with, yes, still a jw...anyway, i had to copy/paste it so you could all see, thought it was a bit hilarious to see how they blatantly speak of keeping info from "outsiders.
" i did not copy the name of the person since that is not my point and i am not that disrespectful, but i did copy their comment...they were discussing the wt about killing all apostates and someone that was studying asked a question as to whether they all thought that was right or not, so here it is..............."james... although its a great article and very encouraging, as apostates do deserve to be murdered, it may not be such a good idea to reveal it our friend zeek at this moment.
he may find it a tad over the top.
Recalling some of the hate speech that I heard while I was still "In the Truth", there are JWs around who regret stoning to death is no longer permitted. They may be just a minority - probably only a small minority - but they are there none the less!
Bill.
brother knorr is rarely mentioned in the awake or watchtower and i don't really know much about him.
is there a reason why brother knorr does not receive as much mention as brother russell, rutherford or even frantz?
can you help me understand why he was like?
F.W. Franz, in the late 1980s WT article that featured his autobiography, described N.H. Knorr as having outstanding management skills. Others have observed that under Knorr, the operation of the WTS and the congregations was altered to more resemble one big business venture.
Other than that, compared with his two predecessors, Nathan Knorr was not a controversial personality - possibly why remarkably little is said about him anymore. (That was not the case, though, while he was alive).

21 days to go!.
whos looking forward to it?.
any kiwis here on this board?.
This result should at last put to rest the "chokers" tag , that has all too often been applied to the All Blacks!

I retract what I previously said about Dan Carter's absence, sizemik! Aaron Cruden performed magnificently in his place.
Now there is only France to beat. While the odds seem to be heavily stacked against them, you never quite know what the French will do on the day. Were they to turn on another display like the 1999 semi-final, it would be a very interesting game indeed!

All the Welsh fans will be disappointed.
But for a lapse of discipline, Wales would have nailed it (and finallysomepride would have been out of pocket!)
As it was, they were the better team - losing by only one point, despite playing with only 14 men for most of the game. I would imagine that Warburton isn't the most popular person in Wales right now!
Going on to this evening's semi-final, I cannot believe that New Zealand are entering this one as the favourites to win - not with Dan Carter out, and Richie McCaw crippled (when was the last game they won against a strong opponent, without both Carter and McCaw in the team?)
The "choker" tag surely doesn't apply this time!

Whatever today's results turn out to be, I will be plugging for the North / South rivalry (although Wales played distinctly NZ style rugby last weekend - legacy of its NZ coach, no doubt!).

it used to for me, and now it doesn't.. i'm not sure how i was able to accept that argument now that i don't, but perhaps it was connected with my increasing compassion for people and their personal suffering as i've grown older.. now it seems like a sick excuse.
more like a bar-bet with satan and all of creation suffers.. i read paul's words and he has no rejoiner except to say in effect "sucks to be a vessel of wrath...glad i'm not one, but who are you to complain anyway, huh?
who's bigger, smarter and more powerful than you, you, you complaining vessel of wrath, you.
This explanation made little sense to me at any time:
- and it made no sense at all after I got myself hopelessly tangled up a few times, while trying to explain it to others!
That was particularly the case if such persons knew something about the bible (and, contrary to WTS propaganda, such persons do exist - mainly because they actually read the bible, not the Watchtower.)
Like so many other things JW, this one, too, is just another Fred Franz fairy story!
